Usually serve as a reminder for us to return back to God and repent our sins. But take it easy, now at this present time, God will not punished us with this Big flood, when we see the Rainbow He will not, as promised. Just a reminder and a little pinch for everyone to return back to Him.

But anyway, when flood comes to us, it's only the material needs that was taken away from us. We should keep a strong relationship with Him and grow spiritually. We can be poor materially while we can be proud and stand rich spiritually. Remember again bible cited "We cannot live by bread alone".

In response to:God or not

Good to see you back.
There is no doubt that the influence of the main organised religions has broken down savagery and promoted civilization. Some of the pagan gods were vicious murderers, based of course on the worst of humanity.

Despite all the spiritual good incurred in the name of God, I am an athiest. Ambrose Bierce wrote "Faith is Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel".

To me heaven and hell are states of mind experienced on earth, not actual places.

Now on occasion I would ask them questions about their beliefs and rituals/holy days and such and we would have an interesting discussion about it. Never had a big row with anyone as I try and respect their beliefs and if I am curious enough to ask, they are generally pleased to talk about it.

But any religion that tries to force their doctrine down my throat, tell me I am going to hell, and make me "change my evil ways" is going to get told what to do and where to go, possibly with diagrams.

I used to get very annoyed with the Hari Chrisna lot in Soho, always trying to give me leaflets and engage me in conversation. In the end I had to get quite rude, which is unfair but I had had enough.

lead by example would seem to be a better course of action. Not force your example on people.

or something.

When walking past my local "happy clappy" church in Bristol, or 'The Church of Saint Filofax of the Lesser Volvo' as I liked to call it, I was constantly assailed and harangued by churchgoers, and on one occasion virtually assaulted as a man tried to drag me in! This was extremely annoying, and such was their zeal it was impossible to have an intelligent, unbiased discussion.

I'm much more impressed by deed rather than word, especially when much of the word is hypocritical.

Although a pagan, I am not entirely unknown at my parents' church, and I'm quite happy to help out there at fundraisers, etc. The vicar, Peter, is a very fine young chap whom I respect and admire. He knows I am not a Christian, but we get on fine regardless and he has never once made me feel uncomfortable.

I'm quite happy in my belief system which, believe it or not, is not too far away from the core beliefs of yours - be kind, help people, harm none, look after the community and environment. Preaching at me won't convert me. If people are drawn to Christianity, let them be drawn by its goodness and charity, not beaten into submission!
